The Hamlet was all decked out and ready for Halloween. Now that Ray and Horatio had taken a leave of absence from the IPD they had extra free time; sure, he'd planned to spend most of it wallowing, but he found it was better when he had something to do to take his mind off Fraser. Now there were bats and ghosts and spiders hanging from the trees, Ray had never felt so damn crafty in all his thirty six years. There were some tables set up with food and drinks. Eostre, with the help of Eddie, Anne, Ariel, Kate, and Jane, had made all the food and a ton of candy, and all different kinds. Duck and Chris, and a bunch of them, really, had made a sort of tunnel wiki-hut thing for Archie's 'Haunted Hut'. The place was ready for a party, now all it needed was people.

Halloween Gathering post disclaimer;
- There will be trick-or-treating threads within the post, they'll be labeled 'for trick-or-treating' in the subject line (like in squid plot) by those who have huts in the hamlet and are participating. You can tag those folks without having to actually be trick-or-treating. And while trick-or-treating is meant for the kids anyone can do it, because yay, candy.
- The party takes place early evening and on, and as it gets darker the Hamlet will be lit up by oil lamps and small fire pits, as the Hamlet is a fairly large, spread out area. It's all located next to the small waterfall and there was a bulletin board post about it a week or so ago.
- Use your imagination on the food/drink/candy, it's all typical party fare.
- Slowtime is ALWAYS welcome and encouraged!]

For Trick-or-Treating

Anne was still quite pleased with her pirate costume, though she had to admit it was warm and she'd probably be a great deal more comfortable once the sun was completely down. Still, she could think of a great many worse things she might have found herself dressed as, and she would take being warm over those any day.

Once it was described to her what it was they were planning to do, Anne was more than pleased to take part in the trick-or-treating ritual in the Hamlet. Not only did she have a coconut shell full of the hard candies Eostre had made, she also had a plate of freshly baked sugar cookies to hand out to the children... and whoever else might come by.

Re: For Trick-or-Treating

He was trying to be an adult about this. He really was. He had Rollo tight by the scruff of the neck (though he knew the dog would never hurt a child), and he was...well...he was staring at the girl in the pirate costume. She wasn't really a pirate...was she? Even if she was, he wasn't fourteen anymore, he was not going to be knocked out and put over anyone's shoulder, and he was being irrational.

"He..." His voice gave out. "Hello."

He managed better the second time.

For Trick-or-Treating

Eddie loved Halloween, he really did, all the costumes and treats and decorations. He and Lily liked to go all out every Halloween, and in that tradition he did the same on the island, decorating all over the front of the hut and the nearby branches, spilling over onto Cutter and Lennox's hut, too. He figured just this once they wouldn't mind.

It was a little sad being Donald Duck without his Daisy, but he was consoled by the fact that at least he hadn't ended up as Minnie Mouse.

It was with great relish that Eddie sat by the door -- or doorlike-thing -- of their hut with a bowl of candy in his lap, ready to spread Halloween cheer. Or fright. Or whatever.

Re: For Trick-or-Treating

Sharon had woken up with leaves in her hair and a dress that was far too pretty for an ex-soldier and a new mother, in her opinion. It just wasn't practical. Worse yet her baby had woken up dressed like a frakking lamb and she couldn't get the strange clothing off. She didn't understand the significance of wearing these things and it had taken the better part of an hour for Helo to completely calm her down and assure her that it wouldn't last.

At the point of the party Sharon was feeling better for the most part, and in a way it comforted her to see that someone else was stuck as an animal...with a shirt?

"Eddie? What the frak are you supposed to be?" she asked, Hera balanced on one hip.

She had found somewhere to sit where she could fold around her knees and try to make her cleavage slightly less obvious. There was nothing that she could do about the bunny ears though.

She sucked morosely on a lollipop and watched the party going on around her, tugging absently on her long blond hair which had the unfortunate affect of making her ears twitch.

Ray felt extremely cool in his pinstripe suit and Tommy gun, even if it wasn't actually capable of firing anything. Cooler than he'd felt since he'd left Las Vegas, only without the fear for his life.

"Hi there," he said to the girl in the bunny suit. "How're you doing?"

For Trick-or-Treating

It had come down to a coin toss in the end -- and what else were coins good for anymore? -- but in the end Duck had taken Sunny out trick-or-treating around the Hamlet and Geoffrey had stayed home to hand out candy to anyone who stopped by. Kid or no, he figured, since there was a lot of candy, and not that many kids that he knew of.

Considering what he could have ended up looking like -- and given the island's sense of humour, it was by the grace of god that he hadn't ended up dressed as Hamlet -- Geoffrey wore his tight blue jeans and cowboy boots and wide open shirt with pride, and even gave the cowboy hat on his head a cocky tilt. If it was good enough for Duck, it was good enough for him.

And he didn't think Duck minded too much that he'd set Oliver's skull outside of their hut for the evening. It was only decoration, after all.

Re: For Trick-or-Treating

Kate was a little cranky. She didn't get cranky often but she had spent all day dressed in this Candy Land hooker outfit and she was tired of constantly checking to see if her ass was still covered and carrying around this stupid wand.

The only thing that was making it a little better was that the kids looked really cute and maybe she could help hand out candy or something, if she didn't end up scarring them for life.

She wanders up to Geoffrey's hut, partly pleased that he isn't in a dress or anything and partly annoyed that he looks fairly normal. Practically handsome.

"Hi," she mutters, red with embarassment, "Well, now okay you have a nice costume."

Jane did want to attend the gathering that she helped to make candy for and when she wound up in her costume, it had stopped her only momentarily. Still, she pursued and attending, smiling at those who passed and trying not to appear too shy.

It did look rather lovely and Jane took a piece of candy to turn in her hands, hoping to see the children she had grown quite enamoured of, and of course, to meet new people.

"Hey, Jane," said Geoffrey, tipping his cowboy hat to her as he grabbed himself some juice. "Looks like we match today. Sort of."

for trick-or-treating

Ray (dressed in a white zoot suit complete with tommy gun, like some kinda twenties gangster) was actually glad for the excuse to pass out candy, even if there were only two or three kids around, cause it was better than loitering around a food table. Yeah, he was in a pretty good mood, better than he had been in awhile, but he wasn't sure he was up for mingling. So he sat in front of his and Horatio's hut thing testing some random pieces of candy from time to time. Never knew, Eostre could be a Halloween serial killer.

Re: for trick-or-treating

Jane saw Mr. Kowalski with some candy and in quite the lovely suit and she approached with a soft smile settled on her face. "You look quite dapper!" she remarked, quite eager about it.

Mamet had woken up as...well he doesn't know what the fuck he's supposed to be, but it came with a pistol that even when he dumped in the jungle just reappeared in its holster. It's pretty freaky, but he has to admit the suit is sharp and he could be stuck in worse (like the guy in the Minnie Mouse costume which still makes him laugh a little when he thinks about it).

Right now he's leaning against a tree near the food table, lurking like a really cool version of a cowboy.

"Well don't you look handsome?" she says, wandering over in her five inch heels. She given up trying to hide her cleavage, or the way that her tail bounced when she walked. She was on her second lollipop of the night. It really wasn't all bad.

"Don't laugh at me," she warns, going up on her tiptoes in the shiny shoes to kiss his cheek hello.

Billy still wasn't sure what to think about his costume. He had liked the movie, he remembered watching Evil Dead with Joe and thinking that it was pretty fucking cool, but to actually BE Ash? It was uncomfortable for one, and Billy was getting kind of sick of the wary looks he'd been getting all day.

He didn't know how many times he'd had to tell people that the blood was fake and that he hadn't actually been chopping people up around the island. The chainsaw, however, was real, as was the shotgun that fit snug into the holster strapped to his back. But nobody needed to know that.

Billy was strolling along the Hamlet now, tired of having scared the shit of everyone in the Compound.

She watched him walk past, one eyebrow raised, her lollipop almost, but not quite, to her mouth. He looked a lot like Mamet, but that wasn't so surprising.

"It's a good movie," she said, though it would have been easy enough to not hear her over the bustle of a party.

Dustin was finally getting used to his costume and found he way to the party. It was in full swing and Dustin was exciting.

He wondered if Cam or Hunter would eventually turn up. Hey, it was Halloween and whatever tricks the island was playing, Dustin was sure it was all in good fun.

King couldn't help the silly little grin on his face as he approached what appeared to be a little Halloween party. He was in a pretty good mood. Whatever had affected most everyone else, hadn't affected him at all and he was glad for it. Especially since he was pretty sure he had seen a furry Chewbacca stamping about. Making a beeline for the food table, King was pleased to find that there were especially good treats this time around. He grabbed him a couple cookies and took a bite. This was his kind of party.

"Tick-o-tyeat!" Sunny shouted, nearly barreling right into King's legs. Since there were no more huts to trick-or-treat at she had taken to assaulting party guests. She had also had a lot of sugar.

A lot.

"Hey," Frannie said, approaching King from behind and sticking the butt of her very plastic gun into the small of his back gently. She was really loving her costume, particularly the fedora and she sort of wanted to show it off. It was one of those rare occasions when she felt really sexy.

So this whole Halloween thing was fun and all, but Sirius wasn't sure he was in the mood for a damn party. That sort of socializing still seemed to mock him, but everyone looked silly enough for Sirius to bear some curiosity. Plus there were sweets and, well, fuck it. He could either sit alone with no one to squirt with his water pistols or go anyway.

He did, hiding said pistold under his duster.

Tonks practically bounded over to Sirius as soon as she caught a glimpse of him. Which, not surprisingly, ended with stumbling at the end and having to grab his coat for balance. "Bloody shoes!" she muttered, looking down morosely at the heels. "There's a good reason I'd never wear anything like this on purpose."

Lennox had two options. He could hide out in his hut and pretend he was dead or missing or something, or he could suck it up and let everyone see that he was dressed like Minnie Mouse, complete with ears, little ruffled socks and silky gloves. It was probably his serious lack of shame that caused him to choose the latter and was the reason he was wandering around the Hamlet, watching everyone at the party.

At least he wasn't wearing giant squishy gloves like Chris. He kept telling himself that.

Ariel was dressed like a mermaid, with real shells, her hair falling in loose ringlets down her back. She felt unusually pretty and not at all shy, it was like having a bit of home here on land.

She giggled when she saw Jim. "Jim, you're wearing a lovely skirt!" she exclaimed, waving him over.

Catherine had been tempted but unsure about the party, and as she fanned herself (the black lace fan actually useful), her decision was made for her as Senor Valentine apparently scented something on the air.

He bolted, and Catherine picked up her skirts and chased after him as best she could. If only she knew the Spanish for stop, she thought as she stumbled upon the party, flushing and breathing heavily.
